How to Make Elderflower Champagne

Peter Gulliford sent us this so that you too can enjoy the high-life on the cheap! A refreshing drink made from a plentiful plant. Give it a whirl and let us know how you got on.

Pick 2-4 Elderflower heads (full bloom)

  • 1 off Lemon and/or 1 Grapefruit
  • 2 off tablespoons (30mls) white vinegar
  • 1 ½ lb (0,6-0,7 Kgms) white sugar

  • Place flowerheads in clean container
  • Add juice and rind (no white pith) from lemon/grapefruit
  • Add sugar and vinegar
  • Make up to one gallon, stir occasionally.

  • Leave for 24/48 hours
  • Strain or decant into strong bottles.
  • Ready to serve chilled after two weeks.

Enjoy!!
